The fertilizers applied will provide the lawn with enough nutrients to keep the lawn healthy and green. If your lawn is not staying green throughout the season, you are probably not watering enough or cutting too low. Make sure the lawn receives one and a half inches of water weekly. The lawn should never be cut below 3 inches and remember not to cut more than one third of the grass plant off when mowing the lawn.
We have had a very wet spring this year causing delays in getting the Late Spring treatment applied because we need dry weather in order for the Weed treatment to be effective.
We've been in business for over 23 years and are one of the fastest growing Lawncare companies in Canada. We are also Canadian owned and family operated which gives Dr. Green the passion most companies lack.
Aeration is always beneficial to the turf and is recommended on a yearly basis. It is especially beneficial if you have a clay based soil. Aeration allows air, water, and nutrients to better penetrate the soil by reducing the thatch layer in the turf. If your lawn is not growing at a normal rate or if the grass is not turning green after it has been fertilized, it is definitely time to have an Aeration.
Chinch Bugs are small insects that feed off the grass leaf and can cause a great deal of damage to your lawn. The damage occurs during the hot summer period. They are attracted to hot, dry conditions but regular watering will help prevent a Chinch Bug infestation from occurring. Chinch Bug damage looks like large browning areas that comes up in patches in the summer months
Unfortuneately weather forecasts can be less than accurate and it does rain after a treatment occasionally. The weed treatment will usually be effective, even if it rains shortly after treatment. We ask you to wait ten days after a weed treatment has been applied. If the weeds persist after 10 days give Dr. Green a call and we will re-treat the weeds as part of your guaranteed program.
Crabgrass is not visible in early spring. It will usually start to appear towards the middle of June depending on weather conditions. Crabgrass is a lime colour with short, stubby leaves and is particularly noticeable around the boulevards, sides of driveways, and bare areas in the lawn. Crabgrass is easily recognizeable in late summer when it changes to a purple-ish colour. Do not confuse Crabgrass with Quackgrass. Quackgrass is present all season and retains its green color.
It is a fertilizer treatment for trees and shrubs that is injected (looks like a giant needle) into the root zone of the plants. This fall treatment helps to feed the plants throughout the winter resulting in rapid and healthier growth through the following spring and summer.
Dr. Green guarantees to retreat any treatment that is part of your Lawncare Program at no charge. If a problem persists, give us a call and we will treat the problem in five working days.
There are two things you can do. Cut the lawn at three inches and give the lawn one and a half inches of water weekly. This will keep the turf thick and healthy which will help prevent the infiltration of weeds. The second thing to do is: Tell your neighbors all about Dr. Green. They'll have a great looking lawn and you'll receive a $30.00 referral credit.
Always water the lawn during the day. Watering at night promotes fungus problems because the turf leaves remain moist for too long a period, whereas during the day any excess moisture is burned off the plant by the sun.
Charges vary by the type and amount of treatments that were applied on a particular visit. For instance, on the second visit of a Very Best Treatment Plan, you receive, Weed Treatment and Crabgrass Treatment along with your fertlizer, whereas on the first visit you only receive a Fertilizer treatment. As a result, the second visit is more expensive than the first visit
There are probably a couple of reasons for this problem. We try and apply the treatments at 4-6 week intervals to maximize the effectiveness of all the treatments: Part of the problem may be perception. All Lawncare companies generally apply treatments in the same time period and each company has customers that are done in the beginning and also in the end. Their is no advantage to being the first done in the cycle and their is no disadvantage to being last; Once you are a customer for a while, you will probably not care if you are done in the beginning or in the end. If you are anxious to have a treatment applied, call and we will make sure the treatment is done within 5 working days.
Your treatments are generally spaced apart by 4-6 weeks.
