Did you know that grubs can damage an entire lawn in just a matter of days? As we move into summer our lawns in Naperville are in danger because most homes have sprinkler systems and grubs are highly attracted to moist lawns. Healthy, well watered lawns provide june bugs (adult grubs) a soft place to lay their eggs and these eggs hatch into grub larvae. When the grubs hatch they begin rapid feeding on the roots of the lawn causing the grass to roll up like a carpet once disturbed. In addition to this, raccoon, skunks, and other animals begin to tear up the lawn in an effort to feed on the grubs. The best time to treat the lawn for grubs is june and a good product like Merit will last for the rest of the year if it is properly watered in after treatment. If you suspect you at have a grub problem, you should treat the lawn right away as the problem can spread fast and it is very costly to repair.
