Fall Weed Control:

Fall is a great time to clean up the lawn and get a jump on next year’s weed control. Every fall there are important things we can do to eliminate the weeds that grow in summer and take steps to preventing weeds from growing in the lawn next spring.

Controlling summer weeds:

Common summer weeds found in the fall include dandelions, clover, and thistle. Summer weeds can be partially controlled by applying  weed control products but the best thing to do in the fall is preventative weed control.

Preventative weed control:

You may have heard that the best defense against weeds is a healthy lawn. That is because grass will always out-compete weeds in the lawn. A thick, healthy lawn will prevent weeds by choking them out. To keep your lawn looking thick, green and healthy in the spring we recommend the following steps each fall:

1. Give the lawn a stiff raking before snow fall.

2. Aerate and over-seed each fall to loosen compact soil and replenish the lawn with new grass seed.

3. Apply a winter fertilizer before the snowfall to give the lawn the nutrients it needs to withstand a long harsh winter.

Do these steps every fall and your lawn will look like this:
